The main entrance of Milton District High School is easily noticed as you pull into the school's parking lot. As you enter the main doors, you will come into a large lobby where you will be welcomed by a greeter with a handshake and a friendly smile. If necessary, they can also direct you to the Child Registration area or other places in the building. We aim to make True North a friendly and casual place where everyone feels welcome (no previous church background necessary). Dress is casual or you can dress up, if you like. You choose.
Down the hall to the left is the Child Registration where children can be safely checked into our amazing children's program - True North Kids (all TN Kids volunteers have cleared police checks). Down the hall to the right you will find fresh Starbucks coffee, Tim Hortons donuts, and some tables to sit and chat at before or after service. Our Sunday service is held in the auditorium, just down the hall past the refreshments.
The church service starts at 10:00 a.m. in the Worship Centre auditorium. As you enter, an usher will hand you a program to outline the service and current events. At 10:00, someone will welcome the crowd and then we'll sing a mix of mostly contemporary Christian worship songs led by a live band. If you don't know the words, it's okay, since the words are projected on a stage screen. You may see people raise their hands in praise to God as they sing along, others may just watch quietly. You choose.
After about 15 minutes of singing, Pastor Alan will introduce everyone to the monthly message series and teach for the next 30-50 minutes. He typically teaches a series of messages based around a central theme that will last about 4 weeks (check our home page for current series info.). Pastor Alan's messages are Bible-based and will challenge and encourage you right where you live. His style of teaching is practical and easy to listen to - often illustrated with humour, media elements, or drama.
Next, we'll take time to complete "Connect Cards" and give a couple brief announcements. The band will usually sing one more song before dismissal. Right around 11:15 a.m. (or shortly after), you will be dismissed. Pastor Alan and his wife Sherri will hang around at the doors to meet new and returning guests. If counsel or prayer for the sick is needed, they will be happy to pray with you those individuals. In the background, the take-down crew will begin packing up our equipment.
And that is your official "heads up" for a True North Sunday service. Come see one for yourself, we think you'll be glad you did. The time of your life could be just ahead! You choose!
